In March 2017, the NBSAP Forum hosted a four-part webinar series on “Legal Preparedness for Implementing NBSAPs”.  The webinar series was developed based on the IUCN Protected Areas Law course outline.  Learners can access the webinar recordings here: 

1. Protected Areas, Law And Governance

2. Establishing Enabling Legal Conditions to Implement NBSAPs

Led by Dr. Balakrishna Pisupati (TransDisciplinary University) and Mr. Tomkeen Mobegi (UN Environment), the session focused on providing options to improve the legal effectiveness of NBSAPs and enhancing understanding of the associated legal elements. 3. Legal Tools to Support Connectivity and Transboundary Conservation

Led by Ms. Patricia Moore, the session focused on scientific and management principles of connectivity conservation and discussed the international, regional and supra-national laws that support connectivity conservation. 4. Legal Tools And Strategies To Support Marine Conservation 

Led by Dr. Barbara Lausche, Director of Marine Policy Institute at the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, a non-profit marine science research organization in Florida. The webinar focused on special legal elements needed for marine biodiversity conservation and marine connectivity conservation tools and strategies, with particular attention to marine and coastal protected areas.
